Invitation
On behalf of the organizing committee, we are pleased to invite you at the workshop entitled “Biodiversity Genomics”, taking place at the University of Cyprus on the 26th and 27th of September 2022. The workshop is organized within the framework of the research project “Eco-evolutionary dynamics on Cyprus: a multitaxon approach to population differentiation within an isolated island (EVOLCYP)”. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research and Innovation Foundation jointly implemented by the University of Cyprus (UCY), University of Crete (UOC) and Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS). Information regarding the project’s findings, followed methodology and future plans will be discussed. The workshop aim is to disseminate its results and highlight the emerged possibilities offered by the use on novel genomic tools in biodiversity research. The workshop will also focus on cutting-edge methods used in the program, their applications, advantages and problems when applied to the field of ecology. One of the main goals of this workshop is also to inform, inspire and at the same time engage local young researchers in related fields.
It will be our pleasure to share with you the outcome of this project and discuss the future possibilities of research on the island considering the rich local biodiversity in combination with the use of state-of-the-art sequencing techniques.
The workshop will be focused on the 26th on scientists, researchers and students while on the 27th will be dedicated to policy makers, stakeholders and general public.
